Accessible transportation across Rocky View communities.
Rocky View Regional Handibus provides door-to-door shared-ride transportation for people whose situation or disability prevents them from accessing other forms of transportation.
Service operates Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, except holidays.

Rocky View Regional Handibus provides transportation for people who are unable to use regular transportation with safety and dignity.
Vehicles are adapted to support people with different levels of mobility, including riders using walkers, wheelchairs, scooters, canes, and other mobility aids.

Regular weekday service, with after-hours voicemail for messages.
Office hours
Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Call during office hours for bookings, questions, cancellations, and service updates.
Service hours
Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Evening, weekend, and holiday service is not currently available.
After hours
An answering machine is available outside office hours. Please leave cancellation messages as soon as possible.
Service restrictions
Some trips or situations may not be available.
Service availability depends on scheduling, safe vehicle access, rider needs, and current operating resources.
The office can help confirm whether a requested trip can be accommodated before you finalize your plans.
Current service limits
- No evening, weekend, or holiday service at this time.
- No transportation to Calgary International Airport.
- Drivers can assist with one step for wheelchairs.
- Drivers are not permitted to enter premises further than one metre from the doorway.
- Drivers can only assist with items under 12 kg.
- Transportation may be limited to a maximum number of service days per month.
Passenger assistance
Drivers provide door-to-door support within safe limits.
Drivers assist passengers from door to door where it is safe to do so. They also ensure passengers and mobility aids are properly secured while on the bus.
If a passenger requires more assistance than the driver can safely provide, an attendant may be required.
Attendants and companions
- Attendants travel free when booked in advance.
- Attendants must travel with the passenger for the full journey.
- Attendants assist with behaviour, medical, hygienic, or personal support needs.
- Companions may travel if space is available.
- Companions pay the regular fare.
- Children under six and attendants may travel free when properly booked.
Travelling with support
Tell the office who is travelling with the passenger.
Seats for attendants and companions must be reserved when booking. If the office is not told about an attendant in advance, the attendant may not be able to board when the bus arrives.
The Handibus may also require an attendant when a passenger’s condition could affect the safety or comfort of the rider, driver, or other passengers.
Mobility aids
Mobility aids must be safe to load, secure, and transport.
Please tell the booking office what mobility aid the passenger uses, including wheelchairs, walkers, canes, scooters, powered chairs, or other equipment.
Some devices may not be suitable for safe transportation. If a mobility aid cannot be safely loaded or secured, service may be declined for that trip.
Mobility aid guidelines
- Mobility aids are not provided by Rocky View Regional Handibus.
- Mobility aids should have transit securement attachment points where applicable.
- Mobility aids must fit safely on the vehicle lift.
- Some health facility chairs may not be suitable for vehicle transportation.
- Passengers using some three-wheel scooters may need to transfer to a vehicle seat.
Pickup locations must be safe
- Walkways should be clear of snow, ice, and debris.
- There must be enough room for the vehicle to load safely.
- Some driveways, roads, or entrances may not be suitable for pickup.
- Drivers may decline unsafe loading or unloading locations.
- Confirm access concerns with the office when booking.
Loading and unloading
Safe access helps protect passengers and drivers.
Drivers park in appropriate and safe locations for loading and unloading passengers. If the vehicle cannot safely manoeuvre or load at a location, the trip may need to be adjusted.
Winter conditions, blocked sidewalks, steep grades, tight driveways, and unsafe road access may affect service.
Fares and payment
Fares are based on travel distance.
The fare rate is calculated based on distance travelled. Fares are one-way travel rates, and each additional stop may have an additional fee.
Fare rates are subject to review based on fuel and operating costs. Please contact the office if you need help understanding payment options.
Payment details
- Fare rate: $4.50 for every 10 km of travel.
- Each additional stop is $4.50.
- Transportation is invoiced after the last day of the month.
- Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer, or credit card.
- Please do not give cash, cheques, or e-transfers to the driver on the day of travel.
Passenger responsibilities
A few simple rules help keep everyone safe and on time.
Be ready
Please be ready to board when the bus arrives. The driver may arrive up to 15 minutes early and can wait up to 5 minutes.
Ride safely
Seatbelts and proper securement must be used unless a medical exemption has been provided to the office.
Follow directions
Passengers must follow driver instructions and be considerate of other people on the bus.
Safety and reliability
Transportation is planned around safe, dependable service.
Rocky View Regional Handibus is committed to providing clean, safe, reliable, and efficient transportation. Drivers complete pre-trip inspections and vehicles carry safety equipment such as first aid kits and fire extinguishers.
In severe weather, unsafe road conditions, or roadside emergencies, riders must follow driver instructions and office safety procedures.
